光線角化症は、日光角化症としても知られる、うろこ状または堅い皮のある皮膚病変です。最も多く見られるのは、頭髪のない頭皮、顔、耳、唇、手の甲、前腕後部、肩、首のほか、頻繁に日光に曝される体の他の部位です。兆候と症状は、硬く、いぼ状の表面、斑点、皮膚の最上層の瘤、患部のかゆみやヒリヒリ感、色は桃色、赤、茶色、肌色などが見られます。素因として、年齢、太陽が降り注ぐ気候、非常に強い日光暴露や日焼けの頻度、青白い肌、赤・金髪、青・淡色の目、化学療法の結果として免疫系が弱い、慢性白血病、エイズ、臓器移植の投薬などが挙げられます。
